Week 4 – Encatado: Pink Dolphin of the Amazon – Definitions

1. aquarium: a glass tank where fish and other water animals or plants live
2. dolphin: a small, smart whale with a long nose
3. flexible: able to bend easily
4. enchanted: magical or very charming
5. glimpse: a quick look
6. pulse: the beat you feel in your wrist when your heart pumps blood
7. surface: the outside part or top layer
8. relationship: the way two or more people or things are connected
9. instead: as a different choice or option
10. behavior: how someone acts
11. downpour: heavy rain
12. poncho: a waterproof cloak with a hood
13. swollen: bigger than normal, usually from injury or illness
14. tributary: a small stream that flows into a larger one
15. canoe: a narrow boat that you paddle
16. stilt: a tall post that supports a building above ground or water
17. lodge: to stay somewhere temporarily
18. submerged: covered with water
19. ridge: a long, narrow hilltop or mountain range
20. echolocation: using sound waves to find objects, like bats do
21. three-dimensional: having length, width, and height
22. flexibility: being able to change or adjust easily
23. mygalomorph: large, ground-dwelling spiders like tarantulas
24. tarantula: a big, hairy, and sometimes venomous spider
25. centipede: a long insect with many legs and poison fangs
26. spine: the backbone or a similar central support
27. destination: the place you are going to
28. polluted: made dirty or harmful by adding waste
29. reflection: the image you see in a mirror or water
30. decaying: rotting or breaking down
